Bill Collins progressed from being a successful senior technology executive, helping lead the growth of one company from $60M to over $700M, to becoming an angel investor, mentor and board member of multiple technology companies. He is a certified corporate director and has served on seven boards. He has been chairman of the board of two companies, both successfully sold. He is a past president of the Tech Coast Angels in Los Angeles and a guest lecturer for over ten years at Caltech on the subject of entrepreneurial sales and marketing.
Along with his direct investments, he has helped raise over $150M in private equity financings for his portfolio companies. Seven of his private equity investments have gone to liquidity events to date. Bill is also engaged in building businesses and infrastructure in India and visits the country regularly. Bill holds a BSEE degree from Clarkson University.
Kevin D. Maloney, MBACMO & Chief Compliance Officer
Kevin Maloney is a serial entrepreneur, early-stage investor and experienced board director. He co-founded QuantumSphere, Inc. (QSI), an R&D company focused on industrial chemicals applications where he secured multiple patents, global commercial partners, and raised nearly $35 million in capital before merging with a publicly traded company in April 2014.
He previously was vice president of institutional sales and marketing at First American Capital Management (NYSE:FAF) and Principal and Compliance Officer at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), an investment advisory firm with more than $1.5 trillion in assets under management. Mr. Maloney has been involved with nine early-stage companies either as a co-founder, team member, or early stage investor and has consulted with and successfully raised nearly $60 million in capital for private equity transactions ranging from bio-tech, clean tech, chemicals, and batteries to software, social media, mobile applications, fin-tech, health food, and real estate. Four of his private equity investments have delivered ROI or gone to liquidity events to date.
He has extensive public, private, and non-profit board experience and currently sits on the regional board for Gen Next, an organization focused on economic growth, education, and national security. He is also a member of the Angel Capital Association (ACA) and sits on the International Executive Committee for the Internet Marketing Association (IMA), which has a 15+ year history and an established global network of more than 1 million college graduate professionals. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and Young President’s Organization (YPO) and has been awarded several U.S. patents. He earned his B.A. from the University of California, Irvine and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He resides in Southern California with his wife and two young children and enjoys a wide range of water sports and other outdoor activities.
Patrick H. Deane, MBACFO and Director of Operations
Patrick Deane brings 25 years of deeply rooted and strategically focused financial and operational leadership across multiple industries with a particular emphasis on high-growth and emerging companies. His solid executive experience is evidenced by helping to lead start-up and later-stage companies through explosive growth periods with combined revenues exceeding $750M. Further, he has assisted in raising over $50M in private equity and venture debt financings, taken a company public, and played an instrumental role in two companies achieving liquidity events in acquisitions valued at nearly $450M.
Prior to his successful financial modeling and business consulting practice, BizFlex Solutions, Mr. Deane served as vice president of finance for the ad tech firm [x+1] at the time of their high-profile acquisition by Rocket Fuel (NASDAQ: FUEL) in a deal valued at $230M. Prior to that, Patrick additionally served stints as CFO at dbtech, QuantumSphere, and VitalStream (acquired for $217M by Internap NASDAQ: INAP). He received his M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and B.A. from California State University.
